Rosie Thomas (Born Sydney, 1997) is an artist whose practice spans sculpture, photography and performance. She adopts falling as a methodology, mining its ability to access moments of instability, fragmentation and movement. Embedded in this exploration is a longing to value connectedness and grapple with the instability of being in the world.
Thomas holds an undergraduate degree in fine arts (Photomedia) from The University of Sydney and is currently completing her Honours (Sculpture). Her work has been shown across a range of exhibitions in Sydney and her work held in private collections (Kudos Gallery, Verge Gallery, Airspace Projects, Articulate Project Space, Sydney College of the Arts). Thomas is the recipient of Scholarships from The University of Sydney (2016, 2017, 2019) along with being awarded the USU creative award for art (2018). Thomas has had her work written about in Backyard Opera, Terra Firma magazine and on FBI radio.
